On Sunday, a 25 year old drove a pickup truck into a crowd watching a Mardi Gras parade. Twenty eight people were injured in the incident. The driver of the truck had a blood alcohol level of 0.232 as measured two hours after he was taken into custody. The legal limit is 0.08.
Twenty one people were taken to the hospital and twelve were initially listed as critically injured. Three remained hospitalized overnight. Seven of those injured declined transportation to the hospital.
