Judge Orders Google to Turn Over Search Data

A man in Edina, Minnesota was defrauded of close to $30,000 and a county judge has ordered Google to turn over search data. The warrant asks for all data (including demographic information, social security numbers, and IP addresses) for anyone who searched for a Google Image of the man’s passport which was used to defraud him. Google has no comment other than that they “will always push back against excessively broad requests.”
