Bird Flu Found on Tennessee Farm

A strain of bird flu was found in a chicken breeder flock on a Tennessee farm. This is the first case of H7 avian flu in the US this year, and is highly pathogenic. According to the CDC, highly pathogenic avian flu can cause up to 100% mortality in a flock within 48 hours. The 73,500 chickens will be euthanized to prevent the virus from entering the food system. The farm is contracted by Tyson.
