China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi asked North Korea to stop testing missiles and nuclear technology to prevent a “looming” crisis. He also asked South Korea and the United States to suspend their annual joint military drills. He said his request focused on getting all parties back to the negotiating table in a way that was amenable and reciprocal for all.
The request comes after North Korea launched four missiles Monday. Three of the missiles landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone, an area claimed by Japan exclusively for fishing, drilling and other economic activity.
