A 50-inch bronze statue of a young female was installed on Wall Street in New York. The statue of the girl, standing with her hands on her hips, is facing the iconic bronze charging bull (crafted and installed in 1989). The bronze girl was set up on Tuesday, just one day ahead of International Women’s Day. The statue’s creator, Kristen Visbal, is in possession of a permit, and the company that commissioned the piece, State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), hopes it will remain for at least a month. SSGA stated that they hoped the statue would help address inequality as they called on companies to increase gender diversity on their boards.
