The space probe Cassini is ending its 20 year mission. NASA is attempting the first of a series of 22 weekly dives through Saturn's rings. The probe will be using its dish antenna as a shield to protect from debris. Cassini was out of contact during the dive but it regained earlier today.
Cassini was launched in 1997. Scientists decided to end Cassini's mission in 2010 to prevent the craft from accidentally crashing into and contaminating Saturn's moons. Cassini was able to observe storms, lightning and clouds around Saturn.
