One time foreign policy advisor to Trump, Carter Page, met with a Russian intelligence operative in 2013. During the meeting, Page, who was then employed as an energy consultant, gave the operative documents relating to the energy industry. Page acknowledged in a statement that he had shared “basic” information and publicly available research documents.
Victor Podobnyy, the Russian operative, tried to recruit Page as an intelligence source. The court filings include a transcript of Podobnyy speaking with Igor Sporyshev about Page. Podobnyy and Sporyshev are charged in connection with a Russian spy ring along with one other person.
