Germany’s cabinet moved to ban child marriages on Wednesday. The move was due to the recent influx of migrants where there were many couples where one or both parties were under the age of 18. The bill would annul foreign marriages involving spouses under the age of 16 and will allow family courts to annul those where a spouse is between 16 and 17 years old. The law is set to receive parliamentary approval in July.
