President Trump claimed he would be sending in federal help to fight the “crime and killings” in Chicago. The announcement was made via Twitter. He has not announced what type of help would be provided. Attorney general Sessions had said the assistance would come in the form of the Chicago Crime Gun Strike Force when asked about the tweet on Fox News.
Last year was the most violent year in Chicago in the past 20 years. At this time last year, there were 1790 reported shootings in Chicago with a total of 4300 shooting victims. The number of murders and shootings have decreased this year compared to the same time period last year.
